美國聯邦當局表示，流亡美國的中國商人郭文貴於15日上午在紐約被捕，他被控包括電匯詐騙、證券詐騙、銀行詐騙和洗錢等罪名，騙款超過10億美元，被起訴12項罪名。
紐約時報報導，52歲郭文貴騙取數千名受害者超過10億美元，用贓款為自己和他的親人購買一座5萬平方呎的豪宅、一輛價值350萬元的法拉利和兩個3萬6000元的高級床墊，及為3700萬美元的豪華遊艇融資。
報導指，郭文貴是前總統特朗普的高級顧問班農的商業夥伴，曾向特朗普的顧問包括班農等人支付數十萬美元選舉費用。2020年8月班農因涉嫌詐騙案被捕時，正是在郭文貴的遊艇上在長島海峽度假。郭文貴在2014年習近平領導的反貪污打擊期間離開中國。
同樣被列入指控名單的還有擁有香港和英國雙重國籍，郭文貴的財務顧問余建明 (William Je)，面臨一項妨礙司法的指控。
Chinese business tycoon and Bannon ally Ho Wan Kwok, has been indicted on 12 counts relating to an alleged $1bn fraud. The charges announced by the US attorney for the southern district of New York on Wednesday include wire fraud, securities fraud, bank fraud and money laundering. Kwok is charged with lining his pockets with the money he stole, including buying himself, and his close relatives, a 50,000 sq ft mansion, a $3.5m Ferrari, and even two $36,000 mattresses, and financing a $37m luxury yacht. Kin Ming Je, a Hong Kong and UK dual citizen also known as William Je and described as Kwok's financier, was also named in the charges and faced a further count of obstruction of justice.
