Ayatollah Khamenei Dead After US–Israel Airstrike on Tehran, Iran Confirm
Iranian state media has confirmed that Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed after US–Israel airstrikes on Tehran. Several members of his family also died. The government has declared a 40‑day national mourning period, while the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps pledged a forceful response, escalating tensions across the region.
The strike targeted multiple sites in Tehran, including the office where Khamenei was meeting senior officials. Israel and the United States say the operation also killed several top Iranian military and security leaders. Iran’s Red Crescent reported more than 200 deaths and hundreds of injuries, though official figures remain pending.
