Buckingham Palace celebrated King Charles III's 75th birthday today, with the firing of a 41-gun salute by the King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery in London's Green Park, with support from loving members of the royal family. It was one of several gun salutes across the country on Tuesday in honour of the monarch's milestone birthday. The Tower of London also participated with a customary 62-gun salute.

His Majesty continued royal duties as usual, carrying out public engagements throughout the day as is his tradition. This evening, King Charles will host an event at Buckingham Palace to mark both his birthday and the 75th anniversary of the National Health Service (NHS). Hundreds of nurses and midwives will join the monarch for a celebration capturing both occasions. The event is a fitting way for the King to express his gratitude to frontline NHS staff on his milestone birthday.

It is sure to be a joyous celebration for the monarch. As is royal tradition, no family member would dare to forget such a milestone in the King's life. After a momentous first year on the throne, Charles will be grateful to spend the day surrounded by his nearest and dearest. Gun salutes are a long-standing tradition marking special royal occasions. Today's salutes appeared to be a resounding success, allowing Britain to pay tribute to King Charles as he reaches the age of 75 while sovereign.

Supported by three generations of the royal family, King Charles seems set to enjoy his landmark 75th birthday this Tuesday. Well-wishers from both the UK and further afield will doubtless join in sending congratulations and kind thoughts to His Majesty.
