Train slams into bus at Bangkok crossing, killing at least 8 and injuring over 20
At least eight people were killed and more than 20 others injured after a train collided with a public bus at a railway crossing in Bangkok on Saturday.
According to Thai media reports, the accident occurred in the late afternoon near an airport rail link station in the city’s central area. The crash involved a train, a bus, as well as several cars and motorcycles. Authorities said the impact triggered a fire that engulfed the bus and nearby vehicles. Firefighters were dispatched to the scene, while rescue teams worked to pull injured victims from the charred wreckage after the flames were brought under control.
The Erawan Medical Centre, which oversees Bangkok’s emergency medical services, confirmed that at least eight people died in the incident, with more than 20 others sustaining injuries.
Videos circulating on social media showed a line of vehicles stopped at the railway crossing moments before the crash, when a cargo train struck an orange bus at the front of the queue.
